And welcome to "Rock around the Clock"! Starting in May 2014, this is the section of my radio show that looks at the prevalent popular culture of any one given year in between 1946 and now. I basically pick a year at random (so to get a bit of a mix of content every week) and look at the books, the TV debuts, the block-busting movies and the top ten music charts from within it. It has to be a year in between 1946 and now because those are the years that possess a Billboard Hot 100 year end chart and these dominate the boundaries of this on air project...

And so the current incarnation of "Rock around the Clock" begins... We are now scrutinising every year of the AUSTRALIAN Kent Music Reports and ARIA charts. Here is what we have covered on the show so far...

1975 - Kent Music Report - Number one "Fox on the Run" by the Sweet

1979 - Kent Music Report - Number one "Lay your Love on Me" by Racey

1986 - Kent Music Report - Number one "Chain Reaction" by Diana Ross

1987 - Kent Music Report - Number one "The Locomotion" by Kylie Minogue

1989 - Aria Chart - Number one "Like a Prayer" by Madonna

1993 - Aria Chart - Number one "I'd do anything for Love (But I won't do that)" by Meatloaf

1998 - Aria Chart - Number one "The Cup of Life" by Ricky Martin

1999 - Aria Chart - Number one "Mambo No. 5" by Lou Bega

2000 - Aria Chart - Number one "I'm outta' Love" by Anastacia

2006 - Aria Chart - Number one "I wish I was a Punk Rocker" by Sandi Thorn

2008 - Aria Chart - Number one "Low" by Flo-Rida and T-Pain

2011 - Aria Chart - Number one "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO

2013 - Aria Chart - Number one "Roar" by Katy Perry

The List continues...

Just to prove that I have been doing this correctly, below are the vital statistics for each year scrutinised so far...
